Materials & Technology

Built with high-performance, recycled fabrics, the dryrobe® Advance has been designed to warm you up quickly after getting out of cold water.

Unique fleece lining

The super-warm, synthetic lambswool lining is made with 100% recycled polyester (rPET), approved by the Global Recycle Standard (GRS) and certified OEKO-TEX Standard 100. This high-performance fleece is made from recycled post-consumer plastic.

Fast-drying back2skin™ technology

The unique composition of the fleece enables it to perfectly balance insulation with the ability to wick water away from the skin. In tests, the back2skin™ dry time of the dryrobe® Advance is significantly faster than our leading competitors. Meaning you can get in and out of the water multiple times a day without it ever feeling damp.

Waterproof up to 10,000mm

The durable waterproof and windproof outer is made with 100% recycled nylon, approved by Global Recycle Standard (GRS). This breathable, shell fabric is made with pre-consumer recycled nylon that would otherwise be destined for landfill.

The seams are heat-sealed to ensure you’re protected against whatever the weather throws at you.

PFC-free waterproofing

The dryrobe® Advance is finished with PFC-free BIONIC-FINISH ECO Durable Water-Repellent (DWR). This technology repels water, causing it to bead on the surface, meaning it rolls off rather than soaking into the fabric.

This plant-based solution doesn't contain any harmful compounds, delivering high-performance weather resistance and reduces the amount of toxic and harmful chemicals leached into the environment.

Breathable to 3000 g/m2/d

Airflow is essential to the drying process. The dryrobe® Advance allows sweat and moisture to be transported away from the body and out from the garment rapidly without compromising its warmth and waterproof qualities.

Care Instructions

The dryrobe® Advance does not need washing regularly. If it gets covered in mud or sand, try shaking it off or cleaning it with a damp sponge. Due to the dryrobe’s waterproof outer shell fabric washing should be limited as much as possible, as the process could age the garment, the same as with any other outdoor waterproof clothing. Unless you get it very dirty and would prefer it clean, your dryrobe will function just the same if simply dried at room temperature between uses. In fact, it works just the same even if it's covered in mud, gets forgotten about and lives in the car between uses. (We've tested it too!).

Never expose the dryrobe to heat sources of any kind, drying it this way could lead to the inner lining losing its warming and quick-drying properties. The dryrobe® Advance is machine washable if it’s absolutely necessary, preferably within a Guppyfriend Washing Bag to help reduce the flow of microfibres going into your drain. It will retain its waterproof properties and will last and last if guidelines are followed.

Washing Instructions

  • Wash your dryrobe inside out (ideally in the Guppyfriend Washing Bag)
  • A gentle or delicate machine wash at MAX 30 degrees. Cold wash by hand is recommended if at all possible
  • DO NOT hot wash
  • DO NOT dry clean or iron
  • IMPORTANT: use a non-bio powder or a technical cleaner like Nikwax Tech Wash
  • DO NOT use a fabric conditioner
  • After the spin cycle, hang or lay flat and dry at room temperature. DO NOT tumble dry
  • Microfiber Pollution Prevention

Using a Washing Machine Filter or a filter bag such as the Guppyfriend Washing Bag can significantly reduce the flow of microfibers into your drain.

Replenishing Water-Repellency

dryrobe® is treated with an eco-friendly PFC-free Durable Water-Repellant finish (DWR). Once your dryrobe® has been thoroughly worn or washed multiple times, you may need to revitalise the DWR. If water is no longer beading up on your dryrobe, it’s time to put on another finish with a DWR treatment with a solution such as NikWax.

We’d recommend using Nikwax Tech Wash, followed by re-proofing with Nikwax TX Direct. You can also use Nikwax Tech Wash multiple times before needing to reproof your dryrobe® Advance due to the Tech Wash formula cleaning without removing the DWR, as some detergents tend to do.

Is my item in stock?

We’ll try our hardest to make sure this website is up to date and if an item is unavailable we’ll try and make sure it’s highlighted next to the product. Occasionally something is out of stock but we’ll be able to get it in within 48 hours so in that instance we’d class the item as ‘in stock’.

We cannot ensure permanent availability of all items, although we try our hardest. Some goods sell much better than we predict; lead times can also be quite long. If something is out of stock, we'll always give you the best information we can on anticipated delivery dates.

How do your Gift Cards and Gift Vouchers work?

You can buy an O&C Online Gift Card on our website and have it sent to yourself or directly to the recipient, with an optional personal message and delivery date. Online Gift Cards are valid for 12 months.

I’m new to the site, how do I order?

Ordering from this website is a bit like buying something in a shop, you browse to find what you want and when you find it you pop it in your basket. You can start browsing by choosing one of the navigation links at the top of the site or you can use the search bar to search for a specific product.

Here’s the process you’ll be taken through when you find the product you want:

  • You will add the item to your basket and proceed to checkout
  • You will then be asked to confirm your items and select your delivery options
  • You will be asked to complete personal details such as name and delivery address
  • You will be asked to confirm the order and delivery information - you can choose from Standard Delivery, Next Day Delivery or Click & Collect from Aldeburgh.
  • You will need to input your payment details, which are handled securely by Shopify and not stored by O&C Butcher.
  • Having paid for the product you will be shown an order confirmation page and a confirmation email will be sent to the email address you have provided. The confirmation email will contain a Royal Mail tracking code so that you can track your order.

Do you sell meat?!

No, we're not that kind of butcher! It's not the most appropriate name for a clothing shop but it's a name we've had since 1884 thanks to the founders Owen & Clifford Butcher. There is a very good butcher in Aldeburgh though called Salter & King, just down the High Street from us.

Are all prices inclusive of VAT?

Yes, the prices shown next to the products on this website are all inclusive of VAT.
