Jubilee Celebrations in Aldeburgh

There are lots of things going on in Aldeburgh to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen. Here’s a few things to look out for.

The Festival of Suffolk Torch Relay arrives in Aldeburgh on Sunday 29th May and leaves the following day. To find out more about the relay and who our torch bearers will be, have a look at the Aldeburgh Town Council website >

Thursday 2nd June – Sunday 5th June

There’s a whole host of activities planned for the Bank Holiday weekend and full details can be found on the Aldeburgh Town Council website

Here’s a few highlights…

Aldeburgh Museum on Moot Green will be open 1-4pm each day displaying Royal Reminiscences, Photos and Memorabilia.

The Bandstand on the Beach will be in front of the Moot Hall – different performances will take place each day at different times.

There will be a Lifeboat launch at 6-7.30pm on Thursday 2 June and a Beacon Lighting ceremony at 9.30pm on the 2nd June followed by Fireworks on the beach at 10pm.

The Aldeburgh Festival begins on Friday 3rd June – more information about the festival can be found on the Britten Pears Arts website.

The 100 FMEG Classic Car Club will be on the Moot Green on Friday 3 June, 1-4pm.

Saturday 4th June you can Come and Sing Queen at the Jubilee Hall.

On 5th June there will a special service at 10.30 at St Peter & St Paul’s Church. There will also be a Fun Day at The Old Generator Station and the Kings Field from 1-7pm

There are lots of great events on at the Aldeburgh Jubilee Hall including The Queen’s Knickers and the brilliant jazz band Kansas Smitty’s Hot Five. More information can be found on the Jubilee Hall website.

Don’t forget to look out for the amazing knitted post boxes around the town. Whoever is making them we’d like to say a huge thank you!
