If the hat fits…

if the hat fits... Beanie, Bushman or Fedora, take a look at our guide to this season's headwear

A lot of people worry about hats. You’d love one for bad hair days or for brisk autumn walks but are you really a hat person? Yes, you are! Also, lots of men are guilty of playing it safe with a baseball cap. This is ok, there are some great baseball caps in store but there are lots of other options too. So maybe it’s time to see if the hat fits?

The Beanie

The bobble lives on and we have plenty in store. Barbour have a fantastic AW18 accessories collection of which the beanie plays a huge part, some come with matching scarves. Dents are great if you’re after more of a pattern and the Schoffel Tenies hat remains very popular in this seasons colours. And don’t forget the jewelled beanie from Ruby + Ed adorned with a dragonfly.

Bang on trend for this season and sure to compliment any winter outfit – the fedora works well on a country walk or dressed up for a day in town.  Local company Hicks and Brown make the beautiful wool felt Suffolk Fedoras in a great range of colours and available in three different sizes. Barbour’s Fedora is the Thornhill, a classic style with the signature Barbour tartan around the brim.Ladies Fedora Hats from Barbour and Hicks & BrownThese two couldn’t resist trying the Fedora’s…

The Headband

If you’re still not convinced about a hat, how about a headband? You put a headband on as you would a hat so that your hair is under the headband. They’re a really warm and stylish accessory and definitely worth a try. We have a knitted option on the left below from Dubarry available in two colours and a faux fur from Ruby + Ed.

Men’s Hats

The Beanie

Our favourite men’s beanies come from GANT and Barbour this season. The bobble has been popular with the ladies for several years and is increasingly so with the men.

The Flat Cap

The flat cap industry has much to thank Peaky Blinders for because the 8 Piece Cap has rocketed in popularity. Our favourite is the 8 Piece News Boy Cap from Olney shown on the left below and is available in three colours. The middle cap below is the Barbour Sylkoil Wax Cap which offers great protection from the elements but doesn’t feel too rigid. Our final flat cap top pick is the Olney Kinloch Sport Saxony Tweed Cap also available in three colours. Whilst these caps are more traditional than the 8 Piece they are still very popular across the age groups. We also stock a great selection of Failsworth caps in our Aldeburgh store.

The Bushman

The Bushman is a highly durable and versatile version of the Fedora from Barbour. It comes in a choice of country tweed or wool felt with a leather hat band. It can be crushed or rolled without losing its shape and is perfect for braving the great outdoors this winter.

A seasonal favourite and best seller, the Trapper Hat offers extra warmth and weather protection. Both Trapper Hats that we stock are made by Barbour from waxed cotton and feature a super-warm Shearling fleece lining alongside a classic Barbour tartan print.

The Baseball Cap

But of course if you still fancy a baseball cap then you can’t beat these for the autumn/winter.  The Schoffel Cowes cap on the left and the brilliant Barbour Wax Sports Cap – both available in three colours.
