Winter Garment Care
In the words of Jon Snow “Winter is coming”.
We can’t dress this article up in any way, it’s about really boring jobs – looking after your winter coats and footwear. Here are some of the products we have in store to help you make the jobs easier – please note they may still be boring.
If you want to rewax a jacket yourself then we recommend using a tin of Barbour Wax Thornproof Dressing which keeps your jacket both waterproof and thornproof. Barbour reassures us that it’s a simple task – take a look at their ‘How to Re-wax Your jacket’ video below.
If you have neither the time or patience for such a job then we can also send your coat to be rewaxed by Barbour – just call us or pop in to the shop to arrange it.
Caked in mud and stashed in the boot of the car isn’t the best way to care for your wellies – they need a bit of TLC to prevent them from cracking. You may also have had a white dusty look appear on your boots – this is called rubber blooming and can be removed with the right care. Here are links to our two wellington boot care kits:
Leather and Suede Shoes
As the most obvious candidates for regular maintenance our footwear brands provide care kits for their shoes and boots including suede and leather protectors. Handy stocking fillers too.
RM Williams Stockmans Boot Polish >
Dubarry Care Pack >
The Loake Valet Box > – if there can be a Rolls Royce in the shoe care world then this kit would be it with five different types of beeswax based shoe polish and much more besides. Over on the Loake website they also offer some great advice about looking after their leather shoes – read about it on the Loake blog >
Not all of our care products are available online so give us a call on 01728 452229 if you can’t find what you’re looking for.
Now if you’re still awake – off you go and get ready for the cold.
